چکیده

In modern neurosurgical practice, CT is a well established, important examination for planning surgery and perioperative care. Recently, CT scanners have been used for intraoperative imaging during craniotomy [1-6]. In this paper, we report a newly developed mobile CT scanner gantry with a modified fork-lift gantry carrier. This system enables the radiologist to obtain CT images during surgery or immediately after surgery in the operating room; for example, in patients who cannot be transferred to the ordinary scanner room in the radiology department.

Guidelines for the Use of Laparoscopic Ultrasound Technical Aspects of Laparoscopic Ultrasound

The most important characteristics of an operating room ultrasound scanner are compact, mobile, real-time B-mode system and high quality image.1 Doppler capabilities, preferably color Doppler, are highly desirable and, in fact, most important in laparoscopic use to allow visualization of tubular and vascular structures. Further improvements—such as real time 3D visualization by combining severa...

Mobile computed tomography : early experience in Korea.

OBJECTIVE With improved technology, the values of intraoperative computed tomography (iCT) have been reevaluated. We describe our early clinical experience with a mobile CT (mCT) system for iCT and discuss its clinical applications, advantages and limitations. METHODS Compared with intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging, this mCT system has no need for major reconstruction of a preexisting...

An inverse-geometry volumetric CT system with a large-area scanned source: a feasibility study.

We propose an inverse-geometry volumetric CT system for acquiring a 15-cm volume in one rotation with negligible cone-beam artifacts. The system uses a large-area scanned source and a smaller detector array. This note describes two feasibility investigations. The first examines data sufficiency in the transverse planes. The second predicts the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) compared to a conventio...

A Monte Carlo shielding model for PET/CT clinics

A Monte Carlo shielding model for PET/CT clinics Robert L. Metzger and Kenneth A. Van Riper Radiation Safety Engineering, Inc Chandler, AZ Abstract Modern PET/CT clinics consist of a scanner room housing the double gantry PET/CT unit and a control area, two or more quiet rooms where patients rest prior to scanning, and a hot lab where doses are prepared. Of these areas, the scanner room, quiet ...

Intraoperative IGS/CT updates for complex endoscopic frontal sinus surgery.

INTRODUCTION Computer-aided surgery (CAS) systems integrate endoscopic visualization with real-time localization based on preoperative imaging. One short-coming of the current systems is the lack of real-time, radiographic assessment of surgical changes. We describe the potential applications of xCAT, a new intraoperative mobile volume CT scanner and its utility in providing surgical navigation...
